Maryam Mirza-Khani was an Iranian-American mathematician and a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. On 13th of August, 2014 she became the first woman and the first Iranian, who got the most prestigious award in mathematics - Fields medal.

Unfortunately, her life didn't last long: she died of breast cancer at the age of 40. Nevertheless, she became an inspiration to young mathematicians after that.
